Aston Villa are in talks with Olympiacos over Leon Bailey’s exit after deadline day, with the Greek transfer window open for another fortnight.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Jamaica international is surplus to requirements at Villa Park.
Bailey was left out of Villa’s pre-season tour to the Far East to complete a switch to Hull City, which later collapsed. He has since trained alone at Bodymoor Heath, with Olympiacos offering an exit route.
He joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen for £25 million five years ago and played a key part in their 2023-24 Champions League qualification. Much of his time at Villa Park has been disrupted by poor form and injury. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Roma before returning in January.
In total, he has made 123 Premier League appearances, 51 of those as a substitute.
With the English window closed, Villa have shifted focus to contract renewals. Ian Maatsen, Lamare Bogarde and Emi Buendia are among those expected to discuss extensions in the coming weeks and months.
