Leonardo Balerdi set for Roma loan as OM await exits before signing | OneFootball

Leonardo Balerdi is close to joining Roma, with the move being finalised. According to L'Équipe, Marseille sporting director Grégory Lorenzi has reiterated that several departures are needed before the club can bring anyone in.

Balerdi endured a difficult night in the 1-2 friendly defeat to Atlético de Madrid on 14 August.

The 27-year-old Argentina international, capped 11 times, is due in Italy on Saturday for his medical before signing.

The agreement under discussion is a loan with an option to buy that could become an obligation.

At Roma, he would fit into Gian Piero Gasperini's three-man central defence, a system similar to the one he played under Igor Tudor in 2022 to 2023.
