Leonardo Jardim boosted as Pulgar, Freitas and Valencia join Flamengo’s Belém and Quito trip | OneFootball

Flamengo will have reinforcements for their next two matches, with new arrivals Joaquín Freitas and Anthony Valencia available to Leonardo Jardim alongside midfielder Pulgar. According to Globo.com, Evertton Araújo is a confirmed absentee.

Valencia and Freitas have been training with the squad in recent days and were unveiled on Friday. They were not registered in time to face Mirassol, but will now travel with the party. Flamengo train on Saturday morning at Ninho do Urubu, fly to Belém in the afternoon, then head straight to Quito on Monday.

Pulgar underwent an ultrasound that showed a haematoma in his right thigh. He missed Friday’s session, but there is nothing that should worry the club for the coming games. He came off worse in a challenge with Mirassol forward Fernandinho and was replaced by Evertton Araújo after 30 minutes, with Araújo later withdrawn as well.

Centre-back Vitão and midfielder De la Cruz rejoin the group. Both trained partially with the group and are in the final stage of preparation, so they will travel and could be available for the Libertadores.

Left-back Alex Sandro remains a doubt. He is a step behind after strong pain in his right calf, scans showed no injury and he is recovering progressively. If he feels no pain he will travel with the group, but it is unlikely he faces Remo.

Flamengo visit Remo in Belém on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The first leg of the Libertadores quarter-final against Independiente del Valle in Quito is on Thursday at 21:30 Brasília time.
