Libya vs Cape Verde: probable lineups for a decisive World Cup 2026 clash
Libya hosts Cape Verde this Wednesday in a showdown that promises to be pivotal for the rest of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Sitting third in Group D with 14 points, the Mediterranean Knights are desperate for a home win to keep their qualification hopes alive. On the other side, the Blue Sharks (19 points) could all but book their ticket to the next round with a victory.
Full of confidence, Cape Verde have racked up six wins in their last eight matches and have suffered only one defeat in this qualifying campaign. Pedro Brito “Bubista” has built his team on a solid defensive foundation and a sharp attack led by Ryan Mendes and Willy Semedo.
On the Libyan side, Aliou Cissé is expected to stick to his usual 4-3-3 setup, banking on the creativity of Faisal Al Badri in midfield and the clinical finishing of Muad Eisa up front. However, Libya have shown vulnerability at home, winning just once in their last five home fixtures.
Expected XI – Libya: Al Wuheeshi – Fakroun, Al Suwaiee, Al Koury, Ben Aamer – Al Badri, Al Khouja, Okashah – Krawaa, Eisa, Al Qadi
Expected XI – Cape Verde : Vozinha – Moreira, Lopes, Stopira, Diney – Monteiro, Laros Duarte, Kevin Pina – Ryan Mendes, Semedo, Nuno da Costa
