Lionel Messi agrees in principle to buy Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense | OneFootball

Lionel Messi has agreed in principle to become owner of CD Eldense, a Spanish second division club. The club said in a statement that he has reached a deal to acquire the shares held by TH Soluciones, which would make him the majority shareholder.

The transaction remains subject to the completion of final legal and contractual steps, and to authorisation from the Conseil Supérieur des Sports.

Financial terms were not disclosed and no definitive date for completion was given.

Eldense, based near Alicante in south-east Spain, compete in the country’s second tier.

Messi, 39, became owner of UE Cornella, a fourth division club, in April. The Argentinian is an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and 2022 world champion, and has played for Inter Miami since 2023.
