Liverpool have agreed a deal with Genk to sign 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans for a fee in the region of €35m.
Andoni Iraola’s side have a verbal agreement with the Belgian side to sigh Brughmans, with Genk authorising the teenage shot-stopper to undergo a medical. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has confirmed the move with an announcement due after the completion of medical examinations.
The expectation is that Brughmans will link up with Liverpool in 2027 after spending the current campaign with Genk.
However, that situation could change if Giorgi Mamardashvili leaves before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, amid interest from Nottingham Forest. Forest have earmarked the Georgian as an option as the club chase a new number one, having had a bid for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson rejected. Mamardashvili is considering his options amid a back-up role at Anfield.
The towering Brughmans, who stands at 6ft 7in, has made 12 senior appearances for Genk since joining from the PSV Eindhoven academy in 2022.
