In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Liverpool are locked in a three-way battle for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer. It has been mentioned that the Reds would have to rival Manchester City and Arsenal in the race to land the Brazilian talent this off-season.

Rodrygo’s Decent Numbers In Spanish Football

Rodrygo enjoyed a decent campaign at the Madrid club as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old banged in 14 goals and grabbed ten assists in 50 matches for Los Blancos last season on all fronts.

The Brazilian attacker managed to catch the eye in the final third and deserves credit for averaging 2.52 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 37% of his attempts on target. Rodrygo was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 85.9% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, Liverpool would have to launch a convincing offer if they want to recruit him in this transfer window.

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Go For Rodrygo?

Rodrygo is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Brazilian wide player can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the opposition half. He is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player but can also function as a centre-forward if required. However, it remains to be seen whether Rodrygo can replicate his good form in the Premier League.

We can expect him to enhance the quality of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He could even help the Reds challenge for some major honours over the next few years.

At 24, Rodrygo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for the Merseyside club to consider this summer. With all things considered, Slot should consider going all out to get the Brazilian talent on board before the end of this transfer window.
