The defense has been one of the most transformed areas of FC Barcelona since last season. Inigo Martinez, who was a regular starter under Hansi Flick, left the club in the summer, and his departure has opened the door to several changes in the backline at the start of the new campaign.

One of the main beneficiaries of this situation has been Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan centre-back is featuring far more prominently in Flick’s plans this season compared to last year and has been steadily regaining his best form.

At the same time, his value in the transfer market remains strong. According to English journalist Mark Brus (h/t SPORT), Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs closely monitoring his situation.

Liverpool’s interest is particularly significant, as they are preparing for the possible exit of Ibrahima Konate. The French defender’s contract runs out next year, and he has been strongly linked with Real Madrid, which leaves the Merseyside club looking for a suitable replacement.

The Report suggests that Barcelona could be tempted by an offer in the region of 50 to 60 million euros. However, the reality at Camp Nou is very different. Barcelona have no plans to part ways with Araujo. On the contrary, the coaching staff and management see him as a central figure for the future.

Flick has restored him to the starting lineup and values him highly, not only for his physical qualities but also for the improvements he has made in addressing tactical weaknesses that had raised questions in recent seasons.

Beyond his defensive consistency, Araujo has become a leader on the pitch and is determined to stay at Barcelona to win the Champions League. In the absence of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, he has even worn the captain’s armband, underlining his importance to both teammates and coaches.

For Flick, his commitment and presence at the heart of the defense make him indispensable, and Barcelona consider him untouchable in their current project.
