Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Liverpool have set their sights on Club Tijuana playmaker Gilberto Mora. O’Rourke said,
“It won’t just be Liverpool who are interested in Mora, you’ve probably got all of Europe’s big guns who would be interested in the Mexican prodigy.
“He’s one of the breakout stars of the World Cup. Liverpool are one of those clubs who’ve registered an interest in Mora, and are keeping tabs on Mora.
“Real Madrid are interested in him, you’ve got Barcelona, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich. If there’s any indication that he is ready to make a move, I’m sure you’ll have all those big teams after him.
“It’s going to be an open race for Mora right now, and because he’s so highly rated and one of the best young players in world football right now, you’ll have all the biggest clubs in the world trying to sign him.”
Mora enjoyed a decent run of form at the Mexican club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the previous campaign. The 17-year-old scored ten times and earned a couple of assists in 53 appearances for the Mexican club last season in all competitions.
The Mexican whizkid is currently one of the most gifted playmakers in his homeland. Thus, it is no surprise that the Reds are showing interest in recruiting him this off-season.

His current deal at Club Tijuana will expire in 2029, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.
Mora can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
The Mexican talent is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Mora is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a left-sided wide player or as a striker if needed. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
Mora would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s attack in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club next season.
At 17, Mora is a generational talent and has what it takes to be a success story at Anfield in the long run. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Iraola would be wise to recruit him in this transfer period.
