Liverpool are ready to let their coach leave amid a potential official approach being made.
Things have not been easy at Anfield. Right now, everyone is focusing on the difficult situation Arne Slot is dealing with when it comes to trying to figure out how to put all the club's new arrivals into a cohesive system.
But it's also important not to overlook the staff changes that happened in the summer.
Liverpool didn't just lose players but they also lost a lot of staff after winning the Premier League. The club's two goalkeeping coaches left for pastures new, and assistant Johnny Heitinga also departed.
The Reds also had to fill these key roles as well as buying new players. So right now the training ground looks very different in terms of the faces on it this season compared to last season.
It's almost unrecognisable.
One of the best recruits on paper for Liverpool seemed to be Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He came in to replace Heitinga and considering he was a coach with senior managerial pedigree having worked at Feyenoord and Rangers, this seemed like an astute appointment.
Obviously, results on the pitch and Liverpool's genuinely poor defensive shape have not really reflected well on Van Bronckhorst.
We can't really know what is going on behind the scenes but it's fair to say that his first five months in charge have been difficult in his new role.
Now it seems like he could be heading for the exit door very prematurely.
