Roma’s attack continues to lack momentum, and sporting director Frederic Massara wants to give Gian Piero Gasperini a new striker ahead of the January transfer window.
The inconsistent performances of Dovbyk and Ferguson, along with the failure of their false nine, have forced the Trigoria club to make a move to strengthen their squad.
The new name for the Giallorossi attack is Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca, but the former Atalanta coach’s priority remains elsewhere.
The player who would make the Giallorossi manager happy is Joshua Zirkzee.
The 2001-born Dutchman is finding little playing time with Manchester United and would like to earn more minutes to pursue his hopes of playing in the World Cup, scheduled for summer 2026.
In addition to the former Bologna player, Roma are also reportedly monitoring a striker from our league.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s Calciomercato L’Originale, discussions are underway at Trigoria regarding Lorenzo Lucca.
The 2000-born player isn’t excelling with Napoli, and Lukaku’s imminent return will deprive him of even more playing time.
Having arrived in Naples from Udinese for over €30 million, Lucca could be a welcome addition to the Giallorossi’s project and become a key figure in the Roman side’s attack.
This season, he has made 16 appearances across Serie A, the Champions League, and the Coppa Italia, scoring just two goals.
Massimiliano Allegri’s AC Milan are also interested in the Italian striker, but his eventual arrival at Milanello depends on the departure of Santiago Gimenez, who was very close to joining Roma last summer.
