According to L’Équipe FC Lorient are again targeting Valladolid centre-back Jawad El-Yamiq (30). The Breton side were interested in the experienced defender last summer, but a move couldn’t be made for the Moroccan.
Since Lorient’s interest the defender made 25 appearances in the Spanish second tier and scored one goal for Valladolid in North-West Spain. The former Genoa man also has 11 caps for Morocco and scored two goals at international level. Les Merlus have still have to reach an agreement with Valladolid, and buy out the remaining two-years of El-Yamiq’s current contract.
Lorient are hoping to sign an experienced centre-back to bolster their defence ahead of the upcoming Ligue 1 season, having already been linked to RB Liepzig goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo (28) and Bordeaux’s Benoît Costil (34). The club could also lose Armand Laurienté (23) to Torino who have submitted an €8m offer for the forward.
