Santos will be without defender Luan Peres for the trip to São Paulo on 2 October at Morumbis, a match rescheduled for the international break by the CBF and counting for the 21st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

According to Globo.com, Luan, like Bontempo, picked up his third yellow card in the 2-1 win over Remo on Saturday night in Belém.

Bontempo would have missed out regardless, having been called up by Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil’s friendlies and due to report on Monday.

Cuca may opt for Willian Arão in central defence if he recovers from an internal oblique issue that kept him out in Belém.

Bontempo’s spot remains open, with Thaciano, João Schmidt or even Philippe Coutinho in contention. Coutinho has yet to make his debut and will try to be ready for this fixture.

Cebolinha is another option for the postponed game. The young number 8 returns at the start of October, in time for the meeting with Flamengo on 8 October.
