Vladimir Petkovic has dropped Luca Zidane for Algeria’s third World Cup group match against Austria in Kansas City, with USM Alger goalkeeper Oussama Benbot starting. Kick-off is at four am in the night from Saturday to Sunday.
L'Équipe notes the change likely follows subdued displays in the opening two fixtures, a 0-3 defeat to Argentina then a 2-1 win over Jordan.
In midfield, Nabil Bentaleb partners Houssem Aouar, while the trio Riyad Mahrez, Ibrahim Maza and Fares Chaïbi are retained behind Amine Gouiri.
Algeria are third in Group J on three points and must take at least a point to keep last 16 hopes alive.
Victory would see them qualify as Group J runners-up.
