Luciano Spalletti on Juventus pressure: “I don’t have to follow others’ opinion” | OneFootball

Serie A side Juventus haven’t had a great start to the campaign and take on NEC Nijmegen in their opening Europa League tie. Manager Luciano Spalletti has spoken about the pressure that is currently on him.

Antonio Conte’s shadow continues to linger at the Bianconeri. While CEO Giovanni Carnevali has clarified that Spalletti’s position is not in danger, the ex-Chelsea manager continues to pull the strings in the media.

This has naturally caused pressure to be heaped on Spalletti. The Juventus manager spoke to the media about that and made it clear he isn’t quite bothered.

He said – via Di Marzio: “Accepting pressure is the medicine for learning to live. I already had pressure when I was ten: I went to earn two things for the family after school. Imagine if it bothers me now that I’ve put many things in order in my life.”

Spalletti further clarified that the pressure doesn’t occupy his headspace and he won’t pay heed to other people’s opinion.

“In my head I decide which thoughts to give space to. If you listen to everything you lose your own identity. Nowadays everyone says whatever they want, I don’t have to follow other people’s opinions.”

The game against the Dutch side could be key for Juve. It could provide much needed momentum, which they can carry into the league campaign and get back to winning ways.
