Luciano Moggi says Juventus needs to be rebuilt again | OneFootball

Luciano Moggi believes Juventus need a major rebuild to modernise the club as the Bianconeri continue to struggle to win trophies, despite their spending during the summer transfer window.

Juventus are historically the most successful team in Italian football, having enjoyed numerous successful seasons. However, they have not won the league title since 2020, and their wait for another period of dominance continues.

The club realised it had made a mistake by parting company with Max Allegri in 2019 and eventually brought him back. His second spell did not produce the expected results, however, and Juventus have continued to search for stability.

Juventus continue to struggle

Whenever Juventus take a positive step forward, they appear to take several steps backwards. Supporters continue to wait for another period in which the Bianconeri can dominate Italian football as they did during the 2010s.

That period of success remains an important part of the club’s recent history, but Juventus have not been able to reproduce those results. At present, several other teams are performing better, while the Bianconeri have also struggled to win consistently across competitions.

The season has only just begun, but their inconsistent results have already created concerns. Moggi believes the club needs significant changes if it is to return to a stronger position.

Moggi calls for major changes

Moggi has followed Juventus closely and believes the club requires a fundamental rebuild. He argues that the process could take several years and should involve changes to the squad and the roles of the players.

He also identified midfield as the most immediate area that needs attention, suggesting that Juventus currently lack sufficient quality and structure in that part of the team.

Moggi said via Tuttomercatoweb:

“Juventus needs to be refounded and modernised. It still takes two or three years, changing players and guessing roles. The first thing to do is the midfield, because today it is practically missing.”

Moggi’s assessment points towards a long-term rebuilding process for Juventus. The Bianconeri have continued to invest in their squad, but their trophy drought and inconsistent performances indicate that further changes could be required if they are to return to the level of success they experienced during the 2010s.
