Luka Modric, 41 on Wednesday, has been named in Croatia's 26-man squad for the upcoming Nations League window, in Slaven Bilic's first selection since returning to the job, according to L'Équipe.

The AC Milan midfielder has not ended his international career after the 2026 World Cup. Bilic is back in charge fourteen years after his first spell ended, from 2006 to 2012.

Other regulars include Dominik Livakovic of Barcelona, Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic of Manchester City, and Ivan Perisic of PSV. Lens player Franjo Ivanovic is also called up after missing the 2026 World Cup under Zlatko Dalic.

Croatia are in League A group three of the Nations League and will play four matches. They visit the Czech Republic on 26 September at 20:45, then Spain on 29 September at 20:45, before hosting England on 3 October at 18:00 and Spain on 6 October at 20:45.

In the previous edition, Croatia went out in the quarter-finals to France, 2-0 in the first leg, 0-2 in the return, then 4-5 on penalties.
