Lyon interested in Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley

Lyon are interested in Brighton and Hove Albion FC midfielder Matt O’Riley (25), according to Sky Sports. The Denmark international, under contract with the Seagulls until 2029, is not part of Fabian Hürzeler’s matchday squad for today’s Premier League home clash against Aston Villa. The outlet adds that O’Riley has missed part of Brighton’s pre-season preparations after returning from a bout of illness.

Lyon are reportedly among suitors for O’Riley, who is no stranger to French football. Last season, the Brighton midfielder joined Lyon’s bitter Ligue 1 rivals Marseille on loan to reunite with former Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi, then in charge of OM. O’Riley featured 25 times for Marseille, logging one goal and six assists, although his season-long loan was cut short in February.
