A crowning moment after CAN 2025 triumph

Lyon: Moussa Niakhaté named player of the month for February
A defensive rock stands tall in Lyon. With 19 balls recovered, 16 aerial duels won out of 19, and four matches without conceding a single goal, Moussa Niakhaté was rightfully voted Lyon's player of the month for February by the club's supporters.
Moussa Niakhaté continues his momentum at club level after his triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations just a few weeks ago with Senegal. The center-back has become the true leader of Lyon's rearguard, playing a decisive role in OL's positive run over the past month.
A pillar of Lyon's defense
Throughout February, Niakhaté played in four matches without conceding a single goal. Rock-solid in duels and dominant in the air, the Senegal international has brought much-needed stability to a team searching for defensive consistency. The stats speak for themselves: 19 balls recovered, 16 aerial duels won, and 4 clean sheets.
Thanks to this renewed defensive solidity, Olympique Lyonnais secured four consecutive victories in all competitions before their run was halted by RC Strasbourg Alsace in the final match of the month.
With 1,626 supporters casting their votes, Moussa Niakhaté claimed 40% of the tally (663 votes), ahead of Dominik Greif with 32% (532 votes) and Noah Nartey with 28% (474 votes). This accolade cements the defender's central role in Lyon's resurgence. After shining on the continental stage with Senegal, Moussa Niakhaté is now establishing himself as one of OL's key men in Ligue 1.
