Rémi Himbert (17) is set to sign his first professional contract with Olympique Lyonnais, his formative club, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Having made an impressive start to his career, notably scoring against PAOK in the Europa League on his first professional start, the Saint-Alvold native will now see his efforts rewarded. A part of the 2008 generation, Himbert will commit himself to the Rouge et Bleu for the next three seasons, L’Équipe understands.

Scorer of two goals in eight appearances for OL’s reserve team this season, he has been regularly used by Paulo Fonseca in recent weeks. And it was during the home game against Stade Brestois (2-1) on 18th January that the Portuguese coach gave him his big break.

A versatile forward, Himbert has also risen through the ranks of the various youth categories of the French national team, notably taking part in the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar last summer.
