Real Madrid officially announced on Monday that their captain, Dani Carvajal, has suffered a right knee injury.

The Spanish full-back will be out of action for an estimated two to three months.

Carvajal had just made his comeback as a substitute during last Sunday's Clásico against FC Barcelona, after a previous spell on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

He came on in the 72nd minute for Federico Valverde, and Real Madrid clinched a 2-1 victory, ending their poor run against their historic rivals.

Carvajal ruled out until January

The Madrid club confirmed that medical tests had revealed a dislocation in Carvajal's right knee and that he will undergo arthroscopic surgery.

It's worth noting this is his second injury of the season, after already missing five matches earlier due to a muscle problem.
