Sunderland are still working to complete Lyon winger Malick Fofana’s move after the summer window closed. Sunderland Echo understands the club submitted a deal sheet before the 11pm deadline, giving them two extra hours to finish paperwork.
A deal sheet confirms negotiations are concluded and sets out the agreed fee. It is understood Sunderland have reached full agreement with the Belgian international on a switch to the Stadium of Light.
An initial fee of 30 million has been agreed, with performance add-ons worth a further six million. If triggered, the 21-year-old would become Sunderland’s record signing.
A deal was struck early on deadline day, then Premier League rivals Crystal Palace attempted a late hijack.
Sunderland made a renewed push and the player ultimately chose Wearside.
It is understood that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is in Lyon to oversee the final stages of the deal.
