In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester City are in the running to land Sporting CP full-back Ivan Fresneda. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club would have to compete with Arsenal in the race to secure the services of the Spanish talent.
Fresneda has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Portuguese club as he has put in a handful of impressive displays for them on the right side of their defence. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net once and picked up three assists in 31 matches for Sporting CP this season across various competitions.
The Spanish talent is currently among the best right-backs in Liga Portugal. Hence, Man City will do well to lure him to the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season.
His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Mancunian outfit to land him on the cheap later this year.

Fresneda is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates from the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from the right flank.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a right-back but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City can find a way to get a deal over the line for him next summer.
We can expect Fresneda to add more quality to Pep Guardiola’s defensive department. He is good enough to compete with Matheus Nunes for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.
At 21, the future looks quite promising for Fresneda as long as he continues to improve with each season. Therefore, Guardiola would be wise to move in for him in the summer transfer window.
