Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava has had a difficult 18 months since he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in early 2023. However he is still of value to Diego Simeone, and he is not his only admirer.

According to Diario AS, Atletico are happy with Reinildo, and he is content at the club too, although he has just a year left on his contract with Los Rojiblancos. At the time of his injury, he was regarded by a portion of the fanbase as their best defender, although he struggled to win a place back this season.

The 30-year-old is still on the agenda of Aston Villa and Manchester United, the same source says though. With Stefan Savic and Mario Hermoso on their way out, Atletico are planning for next season with Reinildo in their squad, but as is the case with many of their players, they will listen to offers for the Mozambique international.

It would be something of a surprise if Villa or United were to move for Reinildo, but if they were looking for a cut-price option, then he certainly could add short-term depth at left-back or centre-back. For Atletico, he has been at his best on the left side of three central defenders.
