The race for Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo is heating up, with Manchester United emerging as a serious contender for his signature in the upcoming winter transfer window. According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are hoping to secure a deal for the 25-year-old Bournemouth winger.
In a strategic move to lure the in-form attacker, the English giants are reportedly prepared to offer him the coveted number 24 shirt. This jersey became available following the loan departure of Camerounian goalkeeper André Onana to Trabzonspor. While the iconic number 9 is also free, the number 24 holds a special significance for Semenyo, who has worn it for the past three years during his impressive spell with Bournemouth.
However, United face stiff competition, with rivals Liverpool also positioned as frontrunners in the pursuit of the Ghana international. Semenyo's market value is a testament to his performances, currently estimated at a substantial €55 million. This season, he has been in outstanding form, contributing 6 goals and 3 assists in just 11 Premier League appearances, making him one of the most sought-after attackers.
His current contract, signed after his last extension, sees him earn an annual salary of €4.48 million, underlining his status as a key asset for his club and a premium target on the transfer market.
