Manchester United are weighing a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who is due to become a free agent this summer.
The Athletic reports that United are ‘considering a move’ for the 35-year-old to add depth and experience, that Leeds plan to offer him a new deal, and that Wolves’ Sam Johnstone is also under consideration for Michael Carrick’s side.
United signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens for about £18 million last summer and he impressed, but back-up options are thin. Altay Bayindir, a signing in 2023 for around four million pounds, has struggled and is expected to depart this summer.
Darlow joined Leeds in 2023 on a three-year contract and reclaimed the No.1 spot midway through 2025/26. He started 22 Premier League matches, initially covering for Lucas Perri during an autumn injury before keeping the shirt from January.
As a homegrown player and Wales’ current No.1 under Craig Bellamy, Darlow is likely to attract interest as a free agent. Daniel Farke has praised his performances and character, and said he will only discuss the goalkeeper’s future once matters are confirmed.
