In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo wants to make a switch to Real Madrid this January. It is understood that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the English midfielder as they look to strengthen their midfield next year.
Mainoo has struggled to earn regular playing time for Man United this season, but has caught the eye at times with his contributions for them at the centre of the park. The 20-year-old has played in eight matches for the Red Devils in this campaign, securing one assist in the process across all competitions.
The English sensation has anchored the midfield well as he has made six tackles, three blocks, one interception and three clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass success rate of 86.4% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Mancunian club will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Mainoo is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The English talent can even strike the ball well from long range. He mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a holding midfielder or play in the number ten position if needed.
Mainoo would no doubt enhance the quality of Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield in the long run. He is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in Los Blancos’ squad in the coming years.
At 20, Mainoo has the potential to be a future star in European football. Therefore, Alonso should focus on getting him on board this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Mainoo would need some time to adjust to life in La Liga
