Manchester United are weighing a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, The Athletic reports.
The 35-year-old signed a three-year contract on arrival in 2023 and, as things stand, will be a free agent this summer. He reclaimed the first-choice role midway through the 2025/26 season under Daniel Farke.
Darlow started 22 Premier League matches last season, initially covering for Lucas Perri during an autumn injury before keeping the shirt from January. His form impressed supporters and drew interest from elsewhere in the top flight.
Farke has praised Darlow’s performances and character, highlighting strong mutual trust, but said he will only discuss the future once anything is confirmed.
United signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens for around £18million last summer and he enjoyed an excellent debut campaign. Options behind him are thin, with Altay Bayindir, a £4m 2023 arrival, having struggled and expected to depart. Darlow would count as homegrown.
Darlow is likely to attract multiple suitors, given his availability, homegrown tag and recent Premier League form. He is a Wales international and currently first choice under Craig Bellamy.
The report said Leeds want to keep him and plan to table a new contract offer. Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is also a potential option for Michael Carrick’s side, having come through the club’s academy.
