More investment is coming to improve resurgent squad at Old Trafford
Manchester United have a “clear plan” when it comes to further transfers with more investment in new signings to come.
The Red Devils are in the midst of a resurgence under oft-criticised head coach Ruben Amorim, who celebrated a year in charge at Old Trafford this week.
While much of that eventful 12-month reign thus far has been hugely disappointing, with United finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and losing the Europa League final before making a poor start to the current campaign, United finally appear to be on the rise after breaking into the top six with three successive wins over Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton.
Such a run has seen many of their high-profile summer signings impress, with Bryan Mbeumo having been arguably United’s best player so far this term, while fellow attacking recruits Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha have also been on the scoresheet of late to add to a series of commanding performances from new first-choice goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
More quality reinforcements appear to be on the way too in the New Year, with United’s director of football Jason Wilcox revealing new details of an exciting long-term vision at the club.
"We have got a clear plan," he said in a recent interview with United’s in-house media channels. "We know what we have got to do, we know the areas of the team that we have got to improve.
“For us to get in the top four and consistently challenge for Champions League places, win Champions Leagues, win Premier Leagues, we have got to invest in the squad.
"We have got to buy the right players. The right players who are talented, but also who can deal with the pressure, who can take the squad forward.
“It is not always about just signing elite talent, they have got to have the right character and be somebody who can bring something different to the team.
"We are really happy with where we are, we know we have got to improve and, you know, the players, they will never be satisfied, Ruben will never be happy, I will never be happy — it is just how we are built.
“We are always looking to improve. Anybody who works at Manchester United should be thinking the same and they do, with the standards we are driving every day.”
