Marc-André ter Stegen ‘to join’ Ajax on one-year loan

AS reports that Barcelona have agreed a one-year loan with Ajax for 34-year-old Marc-André ter Stegen, who lost his starting place last season to Joan Garcia.

He is no longer in Hansi Flick’s plans, and recent injuries have limited his involvement.

Ter Stegen spent the last winter window on loan at Girona. The six-month spell brought only two appearances because of back and hamstring problems.

At Ajax, he would link up again with Michel, the former Girona coach who has just arrived in the Dutch capital.

Also on Tuesday, Inaki Pena, who deputised for ter Stegen in 2024-2025, will join Panathinaikos.

Next season, Wojciech Szczesny should be the number two behind Joan Garcia.
