Marc Cucurella, Yan Diomande presented as Real Madrid players – “It is an honour to wear the shirt of the best club in the world” | OneFootball

The last few days have been busy for some of the six players that Real Madrid have signed during the summer transfer window. Carlos Espi was presented on Sunday, and the same can now be said for Marc Cucurella and Yan Diomande.

Cucurella was unveiled by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez on Monday, and after his presentation, he spoke to the club’s official media channels. As per MD, he expressed his delight at joining “the best club in the world”.

“It’s a source of pride (to be presented as a Real Madrid player). It is a very special day for me and my family. The summer has been long, but I’ve been enjoying it for a while, a few weeks now. It is an honour to be able to wear the shirt of the best club in the world; everything he has won and everything he has left to win. To be a part of this is a very special thing.”

Cucurella also recalled the process of him becoming a Real Madrid player, including the first time he became aware that they wanted to sign him.

“I didn’t believe it at first. I remember that my agents had written to me. We have a group with my agents, my wife and I and they told me to call them. I was in the United States and it was eight in the morning and I said: ‘Something has happened, they have to give me some bad news’. They told me to video call, we called each other and I didn’t believe it. At first it was a bit of a shock because I didn’t expect that, they hadn’t communicated anything to me.

“You don’t expect it. A call from a team like Real Madrid not many people can say that they have had it. There was a lot of enthusiasm and I didn’t hesitate for a moment. It’s been a big step in my career. It’s an honour to be able to play at the Bernabéu and defend this badge. Hopefully it will be a great time and we can win many titles.”

Diomande: Everyone dreams of playing for Real Madrid

24 hours later, Diomande was presented by Perez. He also spoke to Real Madrid TV after the ceremony, and as per MD, he expressed his pride at joining the club.

Diomande was also asked about what has made the biggest impact on him during his first few weeks at Real Madrid.

“The mere fact of being in the same dressing room as the best players in the world, who we see every day on television. Sharing the dressing room with them, having one of the best or the best coach in the world come in… It’s incredible. To be trained by the best coach and to share a dressing room with the best in the world is incredible. It’s like a dream and today I’m happy to share a dressing room with them, everything is great.”
