Marcel Sabitzer has announced he is taking a break from international football with Austria.
According to L'Équipe, the 32-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder is pausing selection on a temporary basis and has accumulated 102 caps and 27 goals.
He cited physical overload, explaining he has effectively played the equivalent of three consecutive seasons because of the 2026 World Cup, where Austria lost 0-3 to Spain in the round of 32, and the Club World Cup.
Sabitzer previously played for Rapid Vienna, RB Salzburg and Manchester United.
A full review will take place early next year with head coach Ralf Rangnick to assess a possible return, ahead of qualifying for Euro 2028 in the UK and Ireland.
