According to L'Équipe, a working document shown during discussions proposes Marcelo, 38, as a club ambassador, a figure known across world football, despite him never having played in France.

The Brazilian left-back was a mainstay with Real Madrid and the national team for nearly 15 years.
He won five Champions Leagues and six Spanish titles, and earned 58 caps, scoring six goals for Brazil.
He also took Olympic bronze in 2008 and silver in 2012, then ended his career in 2025 after a two-season return to Fluminense, his boyhood club.
