Jean-Clair Todibo (24) has questioned the UNFP’s decision to hand Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Season Award.

The Italian was handed the award during a ceremony in Paris on Tuesday. Whilst PSG won the title, and Donnarumma has played a role in facilitating that success, his performances have come into question this season, notably in European games. Speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News on Tuesday, Todibo stated that he believes Nice teammate Marcin Bulka (24) deserved the prestigious award.

“I am disappointed for Marcin because he made the trip [to the ceremony] first of all. He is the best goalkeeper. No other in Ligue 1 goalkeeper has been better than him this season. No other goalkeeper in Ligue 1 has allowed their team to stay alive as he has allowed us to this season. He has played excellently. I’ve heard some people are disappointed because they thought Lucas Chevalier deserved the Best Goalkeeper trophy but the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 is Marcin Bulka without a shadow of a doubt,” said Todibo.

Bar AS Monaco’s Radosalw Majecki, who has only played 11 games in Ligue 1 this season, Bulka has the highest clean sheet percentage and has been a cornerstone of the best defence in Ligue 1 and one of the best defences in Europe’s top five divisions. The Polish goalkeeper also has the third-highest shot-saved percentage (79.6%), behind Majecki (80.8%) and Donnarumma (84.5%). No goalkeeper in France’s top flight has saved more penalties than Bulka (3).
