Enzo Maresca has admitted that Omar Marmoush could leave Manchester City this summer in search of regular minutes.

Marmoush scored twice as Manchester City warmed up for the new season with a 3-1 friendly win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

The Egypt international struggled for regular football last season, amid the presence of Erling Haaland at the Etihad, and started only eight games in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an exit this summer, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa reportedly among the sides keen on a deal.

Marmoush signed for the Cityzens from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £59m deal in January 2025 and has scored 16 goals in 61 games.

Discussing Marmoush’s situation, Maresca admitted the forward is ‘not happy’ with his lack of minutes and suggested he could follow James Trafford in exploring a move.

“The answer has to be similar to the one I answered about James Trafford”,” Maresca told Simon Bajkowski after the win over Atletico.

“Players work every day, they want to play, so when they don’t play they are not happy.”
