Mario Domínguez will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam in the Eredivisie.
Valencia said in a statement that the deal covers the full campaign. Club and player view the timing as right, keeping their paths aligned rather than separating for good.
Excelsior hold an option to buy at the end of the season for slightly more than €1 million, tied to a little over 50 percent of the player’s rights. The structure could benefit all sides.
If the clause is triggered, Valencia retain safeguards, including a right of first refusal and routes to bring him back.
Rotterdam was not the only route considered, yet the Eredivisie is viewed as a more favourable setting for young players to develop, similar to Belgium.
A recent example is Ferran Jutglá, who left for Club Brugge before later signing for a Celta Vigo side in Europe, where he has become an important player.
Domínguez has been Mestalla’s leading marksman in recent seasons, even the B team’s top scorer of the 21st century. A serious knee injury in 2024 did not halt his rise, and he struck 17 last season at the Antonio Puchades.
