Left-back Marlon and midfielder Villasanti have not travelled with Grêmio and will miss Sunday’s meeting with Atlético-MG at Arena MRV, kick-off 16:00.
According to Globo.com, the pair are being managed after returning from long injuries amid a congested run, with the Arena MRV’s synthetic surface also weighing on the decision. The squad arrived in Belo Horizonte late on Saturday afternoon.
Villasanti sustained a serious left knee ligament injury at the same ground on 17 August 2025 in a Grêmio win. He was sidelined for nine months and came back in July as the league resumed. Since the World Cup pause, he has featured in all seven of Grêmio’s matches, while Marlon started five.
In Villasanti’s absence, Luís Castro could hand a debut to Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic, registered on Thursday. Gabriel Mec and Dodi are alternatives. At left-back, Caio Paulista and Pedro Gabriel compete for the role, with Pedro Gabriel having recently featured in Brazil Under-20 friendlies.
The likely XI is Weverton, then Diego Caito, Gustavo Martins, Wallace and Pedro Gabriel or Caio Paulista, Noriega, Nardoni and Krovinovic or Dodi, Pavón, Amuzu and Carlos Vinícius.
The game is part of the 23rd round of the Brasileirão. Grêmio start the round 14th on 25 points, three ahead of Santos, the first side in the relegation zone.
