Olympique de Marseille are reported to have turned down a transfer bid from Al-Sadd for Nayef Aguerd (30), according to information from Foot Mercato.

Having already shown interest a few weeks ago, the Qatari club are said to have returned to the fray this time with an offer valued at €8m. However, that sum has been deemed unsatisfactory by the club’s management, who are demanding more before agreeing to part ways with their defender.

OM, keen to sell the player to boost their finances, now have just ten days or so to find a way to offload the Moroccan. It is a situation the Marseille board would have preferred to avoid; just a few days ago, they thought they had managed to do so, before his move to Real Sociedad ultimately fell through at the last minute.

Under contract with Marseille until 2030, Aguerd has had a difficult season, marred by injuries, during which he has made just 22 appearances in the white and blue colours.
