Liverpool are now set to “turn their focus” to signing forwards after completing a loan deal for Ronald Araujo.

The Merseyside giants secured a season-long loan move for the Barcelona centre-back amid concerns over depth in the backline. The Uruguayan admirably agreed to take a pay cut to help facilitate the move.

Andoni Iraola’s men are currently in talks with PSG over Bradley Barcola and are believed to hold some additional interest in Ibrahim Mbaye.

Never has a tweet been quite as welcome this summer as Lewis Steele’s, with the Reds now understood to be pursuing options in addition to high-profile potential signing Bradley Barcola.

Judging by recent reporting, we would have to imagine that Mbaye, whom PSG appear to be pushing out the door at Parc des Princes, is a name high up on the Reds’ list.

Although it does raise a further question over whether Liverpool’s pursuit of forwards would even end at just the Senegal international and his PSG teammate.

Nothing underlined Alexander Isak’s importance to Andoni Iraola’s setup more than the minutes that followed his substitution.

Mind, it was clear that the Reds need to figure out some kind of solution for when Florian Wirtz is likewise off the pitch.

But with the Sweden international, we know there’s likely to be a period of time during which he’s sidelined with injury. At the very least, we are going to have to manage his minutes throughout a potential 50 to 60-plus-game season.

With that in mind, we’d hope that Liverpool’s recruitment team are looking at the available options on the market in the centre-forward position.
