Ronald Araujo has said he has no doubt that his attributes will suit the Premier League after completing his loan move to Liverpool from Barcelona.
The centre-back has signed a season-long loan deal with Liverpool, adding defensive depth for Andoni Iraola ahead of the upcomingPremier League campaign.
Liverpool have an option to sign the Uruguay international for a fee of around £47m at the end of the campaign.
Araujo arrives after a decorated period at Barcelona, in which he won three La Liga titles. Speaking toliverpoolfc.com, the 27-year-old said he's excited by the challenge at Anfield and believes he has the tools to thrive in English football.
"No doubt at all. I think my attributes will suit this league down to the ground. I think the style of play in the English league should be perfect for my qualities as a player. It’s a league I’ve wanted to play in for a long time.
"It’s very, very competitive and some say – and why not? – it’s the best league in the world. So, I’m full of excitement, I’m full of hope, really wanting to get started, for sure."
Having claimed a wealth of honours in Spanish football, Araujo said he's keen to add more trophies to the cabinet with Liverpool. He said the aim for the upcoming campaign is to win things, and said Liverpool is a team that should always be 'battling it out on all fronts'.
"Without a shadow of a doubt, the aim is to win trophies, win things. You come to a club like Liverpool, Liverpool is a team that is competing on all levels for all trophies, so we need to be battling it out on all fronts.
"You aim high at a club like this – that’s what we’ll all be doing. That’s the main aim of the players and I’m sure it is of everyone at the club and the supporters as well. As well as aiming high, I’ll be giving everything that I can out there on the pitch to try to make that happen."
