Ronald Araujo has joined Liverpool on a season-long loan from Barcelona for 2026/27. The move is official.

The 27-year-old Uruguay international completed his medical in England on Monday and will wear number 33 in his first Premier League season.

He arrives to reinforce Andoni Iraola’s defence, with centre-back options hit by injuries. Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leonni and Joe Gomez, three of the four central defenders registered in the Reds’ squad, are either injured or close to returning.

The deal includes an option to buy, with the fee not disclosed.

Araujo’s arrival should ease an early-season problem for Liverpool’s new head coach, at least for the opening matches.
