Jean-Philippe Mateta came off the bench to score twice to help Crystal Palace come from behind and defeat Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe's side came into this game off of a humbling defeat to Barcelona and a damaging derby loss to Sunderland before the international break and were looking to bounce back.
And despite the Magpies not being the best travellers in the Premier League this season, they did take the lead at Selhurst Park shortly before the break. Lewis Miley sent in a low ball that took a deflection of a Crystal Palace defender with the sliding Will Osula able to quickly adjust his legs and put the ball past Dean Henderson from point-blank range.
However, coming off an impressive 3-0 victory against Fiorentina midweek, the Eagles were the better of the two sides.
It took them a while to finally show that though with Tyrick Mitchell controlling a cross with his chest and cleverly electing not to shoot and instead find second-half substitute Mateta to head in from close range.
The winner came from the penalty spot in what was perhaps a soft decision as Sven Botman bundled Jefferson Lerma over in the box. The visitors were unhappy with the decision but VAR was unlikely to intervene, allowing Mateta to complete the turnaround from the spot in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
That result sees Palace move level on 42 with Newcastle but ahead of them up to 13th on goal difference.
