Matthis Abline’s wait for an AS Monaco debut continues after a foot injury, with the marquee summer signing ruled out of Thursday’s game against Gornik Zabrze, and a Marseille debut in doubt.

According to Get French Football News, the France youth international suffered a foot wound in pre-season against Coventry City when he caught an opponent’s studs as he struck the ball. He played on despite bleeding and has not been able to wear a boot since.

He required stitches and the area remains painful. He is training in trainers, looser over the top of the foot, and worked individually on Wednesday.

Later on Wednesday, Monaco manager Filipe Luís said Abline will not be available on Thursday. He added the wound should heal in the coming days and, for now, the forward can only train alone. The hope is that he could return next week.

Luís added that Folarin Balogun and Ansu Fati are not yet ready. Mohammed Salisu and Takumi Minamino are close to returning from ACL injuries, but are still not fit to play.
