Mbayo creates two as Zwolle strike after the restart | OneFootball

PEC Zwolle beat Heerenveen 2-0 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion, earning their first league win of the season to climb from 16th to 14th.

In the 50th minute Nick Viergever finished from close range after Dylan Mbayo's cut-back. Koen Kostons swept in a second (61.).

Jasper Schendelaar kept Zwolle in control with five saves, including a low stop from Dylan Vente, as the hosts pushed.

Robin Veldman turned to Levi Smans, Lanroy Machine and Hristiyan Ivaylov Petrov around the midpoint of the half, but Zwolle's back line, marshalled by Simon Graves and Olivier Aertssen, stood firm.

A late header by Viergever was ruled offside after a VAR check (84.).

Earlier, Vente rattled the bar from range in the first half, while Mbayo saw two efforts blocked before the break.

Heerenveen enjoyed 64.1% possession and registered 18 attempts. Zwolle produced seven shots on target and cleared their lines 33 times.
