Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot have announced the signing of Algerian international Mehdi Zeffane (30) on a two-year deal with an option for a further year.
Zeffane has been without a club since leaving Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor in April and so joins Clermont on a free transfer. The right-back has enjoyed a nomadic career. The former Lyon academy player left Rennes in 2019 after winning the Coupe de France and joined Russian second division side Krylia Sovetov Samara, before making the move to Turkey.
Speaking in a press release from the club, the Algerian international said, “I am very happy to be at Clermont Foot and to return to France. The words from the management and from the coach quickly convinced me. I am here to give my experience, to perform well, and to help this developing club, which is full of ambition.”
Zeffane is the third arrival at the club in just two days after the signings of Neto Borges (25) and Mory Diaw (28).
