Messi hails Eldense with 'Aúpa Deportivo' after 4-1 comeback | OneFootball

Eldense's new owner Lionel Messi hailed the 4-1 comeback win over Oviedo with an Instagram post reading "Aúpa Deportivo" to his more than 516 million followers. The result came at the Nuevo Pepico Amat on Friday.

The club said in a statement on Thursday that Messi had bought the side, calling it a new and exciting era with a long-term project to boost the sporting, institutional and social development of CD Eldense. The operation remains subject to approval by the CSD.

Minutes after full-time, Messi shared a photo of himself watching the match on a tablet while drinking mate. He followed the game from his home in Rosario, Argentina.

Although competition commitments prevent him from being there day to day, he is closely tracking the club's progress. He is spending a few days at home with his family.

In the early hours of Sunday, he will bid farewell to the Argentina national team at the Monumental in a friendly against Benin. Meanwhile, executives trusted by Messi have been working at Deportivo for weeks, and some were in the directors' box for the first win of the Messi era.
