According to Sunderland Echo, Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of £73.7million striker Benjamin Sesko before Saturday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Sesko scored United’s second in the 3-2 win over Liverpool, taking his tally to 11 Premier League goals and 12 in all competitions.
He was hurt before the break after a challenge by Ibrahima Konate near the corner flag, crashing into the advertising hoardings, and was unable to continue after half-time. Kobbie Mainoo later struck the winner.
Carrick said the forward took a bang to his shin as he went down the side of the pitch, and that United have been managing an issue in the same area for some time.
United agreed a deal with RB Leipzig for the Slovenia international worth an initial £66.3million, with further payments in add-ons, and he has become a key figure in Michael Carrick’s attack this season.
United had Matheus Cunha and Luke Shaw back in the starting XI after recent injury concerns, but Sesko’s withdrawal presents another headache before the visit to Wearside.
