Middlesbrough have revealed their brand-new club crest, which will become the official badge from next season, coinciding with the club’s 150th anniversary.

The updated design is a modern take on the beloved 1986 crest, keeping fans at the heart of the process. Over an 18-month consultation, more than 4,000 supporters gave their input across two detailed surveys, with the overwhelming majority calling for inspiration from the iconic ’86 badge.

Subtle details in the new crest reflect the local area and celebrate the club’s proud history, while a special gold-on-red version will be used next season to mark the 150-year milestone. From the following year, Middlesbrough will return to the traditional red and white scheme.

The timing of the new badge comes during an exciting period for the Teessiders. Rob Edwards’ summer appointment has already paid dividends, with Boro sitting in the automatic promotion spots ahead of Friday night’s clash with Ipswich Town.
