Millwall are considering legal action after a Westminster Council anti-racism schools booklet linked the club to the Ku Klux Klan.

The booklet, titled The Story of Paul Canoville, was distributed in local schools and recounts the former Chelsea player’s experiences of racism. According to The Athletic, the Paul Canoville Foundation said he had been abused by individuals wearing outfits resembling KKK uniforms during a reserve match against Millwall.

One illustration shows Canoville recalling abuse in a Millwall reserve fixture and later showing his 1984 Second Division winner’s medal, alongside a figure in a KKK robe bearing the club’s badge.

Westminster Council has withdrawn the booklet and apologised to the club, acknowledging that using the image was an insensitive way to depict football’s historic racism.

The Millwall supporters’ association called the booklet a false and harmful portrayal of the club, adding that the club is examining its legal options.

Millwall are third in the Championship and remain in the promotion race. They visit Leicester on Friday at 21:00.
