Millwall have been told to strengthen multiple areas in January

Millwall have been predicted to strengthen multiple areas of their team during the January transfer window.
The Lions have carried their strong form from the end of last season into the new term, with manager Alex Neil creating one of the Championship’s most competitive outfits.
After 18 matches, Millwall sit third in the standings, having won nine and drawn four of those encounters. A last-gasp strike courtesy of Tristan Crama saw them become the first team capable of beating Tonda Eckert’s Southampton side, stopping their winning run at four.
The East London outfit have come agonisingly close to achieving a play-off finish in recent times, finishing inside the top nine in four of the last six Championship campaigns.
However, they haven’t managed to creep into the top six on one single occasion, something Neil and Co. will be desperate to change this season.

Due to how high up the division Millwall find themselves, the upcoming January window is crucially important.
The Championship is extremely compact this year, which means that any slight edge gained in the form of a transfer could take a team from mid-table to the play-offs.
Therefore, Neil will be looking to stay ahead of the curve by making some smart additions in January.
When queried on where the Lions should be looking to reinforce during the transfer window, Football League World’s Millwall fan pundit, Lucas Ball, has highlighted two areas they must prioritise.
“One area we will look to strengthen is midfield,” stated Lucas.
“Massimo Luongo is out for the season, Will Smallbone is out long term, Billy Mitchell's had quite a few injuries this season already, Casper de Norre has missed a couple of games as well. So I think they'll certainly be aware that another midfielder is needed.
“Who that is, I'm not entirely sure, but I think that'll definitely be on the list at the club.
“I think they will also look at right-back. Tristan Crama has done really well out there and Caleb Taylor's done well at centre-back with Jake Cooper.
“But I think they'll want someone who has a slightly more natural attacking flow to their game. I think if that does happen, then possibly they'll look to move Wes Harding on.”

Whilst Neil will be looking to add quality to all areas of his squad if the market opportunity appears, there are certain sections that will take priority.
Crama has done an excellent job at right-back, so it may not be Millwall’s No.1 position they strengthen. Instead, adding more goals to the team could be their first task.
The Lions have conceded 25 times in the Championship after 18 matches and have only scored 22, which is remarkable considering only two sides currently sit above them in the standings.
You have to go down to West Brom in 12th to find a side that has bagged fewer goals than Millwall, which suggests that they could do with some more firepower in January.
If Neil can secure a striker who adds more goals to his team, it could provide them with the extra boost needed to hold onto their current position and finally secure a play-off finish.
